Support EWB-NU with your donation!

Stacey Joy and a student help install a biosand filter in a school in Kianjavato, Madagascar (June 2011).

The success of our student-led international projects cannot be achieved without your support. Your generosity will allow our aspirations of helping a developing community lead a healthier life become a reality!

There are two main ways that you can donate to the University of Nebraska Student Chapter of Engineers Without Borders-USA:

  1. Donate to us through the University of Nebraska Foundation!  These donations are tax deductible and can be made by clicking here or by contacting Karen Moellering at the NU Foundation at kmoellering@nufoundation.org or 402-458-1179.
  2. Donate your frequent flyer miles!  One of the most expensive aspects of EWB projects is traveling to Madagascar. Frequent flyer miles donations greatly reduce this cost and allows students and their mentors to travel to Kianjavato, Madagascar. Miles on Delta are the most useful to us as Delta through Air France serves Madagascar.  If you would like to donate your miles that can be used on Delta, contact Libby Jones at ejones1@unl.edu or 402-554-3869.

The people of Kianjavato also help fund the projects by providing in-kind labor and materials and hard earned cash.  They have agreed to provide approximately 5 to 10 percent of the project costs (~$125 per classroom for solar power and ~$2.50 per biosand filter).  This doesn't seem like much to us but the people of Kianjavato earn about $0.67 per day per person.  EWB-USA requires community funding as experience by them and others, like Habitat for Humanity, have found that projects last and are taken care of when people have a financial stake in them.

Help us with our efforts to provide the rest of the funding for these projects!
